D series not getting fire
currently building a dirt track car. Using a 97 civic. I used a d15 block but original y8 head and intake. I bought the car with motor and transmission already out the car and when i put it together theres a few plugs im not sure where they go possibly to the ac or fan not sure if they are important honestly. But i am getting fuel but no fire. So i ran i hot wire to the distributor plug. One wire was thicker than the rest. Black/yellow i think. It fired over one time and nothing else since. Could i have a bad distributor? By all means im no mechanic. Built this entire car off YouTube videos. Any help would be appreciated. Tia
You mentioned wires, one fatter than another. Likely any unplugged unknown connectors have a purpose. Figure out what that is, as a lot of sensors carry reference signals that may interfere with running. IDK if Hondas use fusible links but your rig sounds like it's not original so someone may have added one in circuit. People do weird things & if they're accustomed to old Chevy's it may have happened. If all your relays & contacts are good check the wire colors & connector types to figure out what they're for & whether they're 'important' or not.
