I was really holding out hope that we'd get a gen 3 Ridgeline on the same platform (and with the same style) as the new Passport, but it looks like there's zero plan for that and the reality is that this (or maybe '26) will be the last year for RL, period.
So I picked up a new Trailsport in the only color that makes sense. Couldn't be happier, and apparently I'm the only person in my area that agrees on the color... the rest are all white or occasionally black.
So far, I'm loving it way more than I thought I would (and I drive one at work frequently already!). What a great vehicle.
Part of getting an RL instead of an FL5 was to do some truck stuff, but also to have something that I'm less likely to mod the **** out of. Still I'll probably do some stuff, because I have a problem.
Took it straight to the tint shop the morning after picking it up, matched the fronts to the backs and sides (15%), added clear UV to the factory tinted glass and moonroof glass, and did 50% on the windshield. Llumar ceramic. stays nice and cool inside with increased privacy and almost no visibility penalty, night or day... Win-win-win.
Then spent a full weekend doing a mild cut & polish, because it's a little orange-peely for my taste. Sealed it up with wax for now, planning to PPF the front clip and ceramic coat at some point this summer.
Hit the lower lenses with Lamin-X film, as is standard practice for all of my cars. Added some xtra-bright LED fog bulbs from Amazon while I was at it.
Got a handful of OEM accessories coming in soon too. My associate discount makes it better to buy them post-sale than to roll them in with the financing.
Any more pics of the front tint? You tinted the whole windshield 50% and the sides 15?
Looks great in that blue though.
Thanks! Actually I do. This is at sunset on a gloomy day. Visibility is great, even at night, and I barely need sunglasses anymore except for the polarization.

I have mixed emotions about the towing capacity. I tow with an older six-speed (2019, I think) RL all of the time, it's right at the 5klb limit with the DE5 race car on a Futura trailer and the bed full of stuff puts it over for sure. That rig has zero issue dragging all of that over the Grapevine and back and still gets okay mileage while doing it. We've added a brake controller, but that plugs right up with an included harness. I think Honda rated these things very conservatively. I also don't see myself ever having more than a 2500lb car on a 1000lb trailer for personal use, so more would be a waste. Pickup trucks with more towing capacity than this are painfully impractical as daily drivers, I couldn't imagine having to deal with something like that every day because I might tow a camper 2-3 times a year. I'll just rent a bigger truck if I really need one for a couple of days. Even if I found myself towing regularly, I'd probably try to pick up a used diesel Cayenne or something like that.
I love my 2017 ridgeline rtle. Have changed out all the halogens to leds, 5000k fog leds, and a dash cam. Thats all ill likely do other than a prl intake. I feel like for what it is, its a decent 1/2 ton pickup. I also dont plan on towing more than its limit anyway. My em1 on a small trailer would prolly be it
Yeah, that’s about the most I can see doing with it. I went in to it with pretty low expectations, so maybe I’m easily impressed. Either way it’s a friggin great car or truck or whatever tf you might call it.
The trunk bed is a game changer too. I packed every tool I needed for work into it, except for the nitrogen bottle, on its first track day out. Zero worries parking it in the hotel parking lot. Try that in an F-150 or a Tacoma.
I really appreciate what it has to offer for how simplicit it is. 50 more hp or the ability to use ktuner or hondata would be awesome. But it great how it is
Well this was nerve wracking but the result is incredibly satisfying. I think it’s officially been a quater of a century since I’ve last did a black emblem kit on a new Honda, at that time a brand-new AP1!
