V6 Automatic Transmission. Buy used or rebuild?
Hello all!
I have an 04 coupe with the j30, and a BAYA transmission. At 195k miles it's showing signs of an imminent rebuild in the future. Slipping in 2nd, unhappy shifting, etc.
I know that 05 and up got upgraded/fixed transmissions that have jets installed to help with lubrication. There is a part seller near me with an 07 transmission with 155k for 1350. Conversely, a rebuild kit with a new torque converter will run me 1250. I'm doing all the work myself and have experience with transmissions (though not specifically the maya/baya).
What would you do? Risk a transmission of unknown history (but better internals) or rebuild the existing one knowing it has internal faults?
Thanks!
