Solved my +230k Honda CRV issue on my own and decided to share. I've been actively wrenching on vehicle for literally 20 years so you make your own move.
Car reported multiple codes for EVAP issues and after clearing and trying a new gas cap. They all returned.
If you don't have a code reader it's a guessing game. Supposedly you can blow into a EVAP valve and see it holds air. Otherwise you attach a low voltage circuit and energize it should click. With high-end diagnosis reader you can test while it's on the car.
I decided to seal the entire outside of the EVAP canister with RTV and then proceeded to test with smoke machine into the EVAP line under the hood. This showed very little smoke from one of those hoses on top of the canister that work on vacuum only. Couple of oetiker clamps later we have no leaks.
Replaced this part vapor canister purge valve 36162PRBA01 (driver side) with Dorman and it began clicking like crazy once the car is running. Too loud for my liking and also didn't solve the issue. Next tried the other purge valve under the hood 36163PNDA01 (passenger side) and that fixed one of my codes. But P0497 still remained and returned after driving about a half of tank of gas. It starts as the CHECK GAS CAP and then goes to CEL.
Finally decided it has to be this part in the vapor canister assembly, "Vapor Canistor Vent Valve" W0133-2537537 that no longer exists and is basically out of stock /backordered forever. But you have some options. 2005 Element part 17315SCVA01, 17315SCVA02 or 2005 Odessey part W0133-2136156.
Because these are not the part you need, you will have to get yourself some radiator hose because your routing will not work with the hose provided. I used the Element vapor canister vent valve because it was a closer fit to the original hose. But you have to cap the extra port and cut vapor canister metal cage to clearance for it. Your choice. The extra port will interfere with the cage.
If you have never bent radiator hoses you need a kit like
https://a.co/d/3nHJliM Spring tube benders. Honestly I just left the spring in the tube so it won't collapse with the new bends. The Odessey port is much farther off course and may not be possible with clearances under the vehicle.
But it works, my CEL is gone. You see the port to the right, angle grinder and small portion away
