Yes you can use your suede shoe brush. And use some very diluted dishwashing liquid also. It'll bring the matte finish of the armrest back to 100%.
btw, I use a toothbrush to do this job since it's bristles are a bit softer. If you brush too hard with your suede brush, you can pull filiments of the red stitching thread...and the stitch will look fuzzy.

I'm going to try that toothbrush thing in the morning. Sounds like a good idea. I'll let you guys know how it works out on mine. Its starting to look a little faded as well.
