Default EK friendly fire extinguisher?

All, I like to have a fire extinguisher in all vehicles, especially any that are modified.
Rather than randomly selecting one from that Jungle Website, I’d appreciate any recommendations from those who have installed one, where you mounted it, etc.. ideally, if I had a harness bar, that would be a great spot, but this is just my daily, and there is no such provision.

This type of mount won’t work in my EK, since the passenger seat needs to move forward freely to access the rear seat. (Coupe). On another note, I’ve heard / seen the “element” ones are not effective at all in putting out fires, and personally wouldn’t trust them.

My experience with the Element product is different than yours... it is extremely good at putting out fires. The one practical "negative" I could say about it is that you have to get within two to three feet of the fire source for it to work effectively... where other products have a much greater effective range, placing you further away from the heat source and the risk of getting burned while attempting to arrest the fire. I offered it as an example simply because of the ability to place one almost ANYWHERE... the mounting options are vast and they will fit in places that no conventional type extinguisher can... even small ones. When comparing to other types, this device may not be the best choice, but it is WAY better than nothing at all.

Got my mount in from AutoRacingTechnik, out of Melbourne, Australia.

Excellent fit and finish. Mounts securely to the passenger seat rails, and allows full, no-contact movement of the seat for backseat access.

Highly recommend!

That bracket is pretty nice. I used the Honed bracket and it fits so-so with carpet and a mat. Getting a couple of spacers and mounting above the seat rails like you've done would probably make it better.

Regular ABC extinguisher from Grainger, with the upgraded dual-strap bracket. I mounted mine more toward the door so the seat slider handle doesn't interfere with the extinguisher when the seat is fully forward. Good enough mounting for a rally car, should be good enough for LA traffic & mountain passes!

nice! That seems to fit well. It looks a bit larger than the one I installed. Does yours clear all the seat mechanisms? I didn’t see any larger capacity ones that would likely fit, but would certainly like to have more fire-fighting ability. I’d also prefer to have a second strap around the thing to keep secure in the case of a collision. Can you provide links for what you used? I may upgrade if I can fit it. Mine’s only a 2lb capacity. I suppose I can move it slightly closer to the door, but it doesn’t interfere with the seat lever, or function of any components currently. Might be better to mount it a little closer to the door though.

Mine is only a 2.5lb, so not much bigger than yours. Typical size for a car application. With the seat pushed forward (which happens when I use the car for hauling things or put my large pet crate in the back for road trips) the seat lever was laying on the extinguisher, which made me uncomfortable and was likely going to be a rattle. It's close where it is, but nothing rubs, touches, or rattles and that's what matters.

Extinguisher from here: AMEREX, 2.5 lb Extinguisher Capacity, 1A:10B:C, Fire Extinguisher - 3YWN1|B417T - Grainger
Bracket here: AMEREX, For 2.5 lb Tank Wt, Mounting Bracket, Fire Extinguisher Bracket - 3JMY9|817S - Grainger

$85 plus tax for both.

thank you. I’ll stick with what I have for now, but even an additional .5 lb would be better. Appreciate the info!

No problem. Now that I see my pic on a large desktop screen I see a rogue piece of trash under my seat that needs to be nabbed!
