D-series engine questions
I have a 2000 Honda civic Ex I’m trying to put a d16z6 Into. What would I need to change in order to fit the d16z6 into the car I’ve seen a lot on forum but people are going back and forwards with answers so I’m not sure. The car came with a d16y8 originally. I also have a built z6 head built with skunk 2 parts can I put that on a stock d16z6 bottom end without anything causing problems. Thanks for the help in advanced
Manual trans? Stock (Y8) ECU or something different?
I don't remember all the combos that do or don't work, but the driver's side mount bracket on the engine may need to be swapped out.

Yeah it’s a manual transmission and I’m pretty sure it’s a stock y8 ecu I also have a diffrent ecu I think is a hondata

Similar, not the same
easiest thing probably is to reuse the complete Y8 intake if available and stock ECU. There are a few connector differences like the injectors, distributor, IAT ect. that would need to be addressed to get it running.
next best option would be the hondata and whatever conversions are necessary for the harness. probably better long term for upgrades, but may take a little more head scratching up front if it doesn't start and run off the bat.
also, the Z6 dipstick comes up through the exhaust manifold between cylinders 2 and 3. that will interfere with heat shields on an OE Y8 exhaust manifold. so use the Z6 manifold, aftermarket header or plan to cut holes in the Y8 shields.

How much of the Y8 stuff do you have?
I would probably just reuse your harness/associated sensors from the Y8 and put them on your Z6. I think the only thing that the Y8 has that the Z6 doesn't have is the crank position sensor but you don't need that if you run an OBD1 ECU. Speaking of, I'd probably get a P28 w/ a chip tune. You need a OBD1 to OBD2b jumper harness for your ecu. Mark makes a good point with the hondata, though.
I want to say there's 2 styles of mounts for the driver side mount. I had to use my D15b7 mount on my Y7 block (z6 head on it btw) in my 94Dx because the y7 (came from a 00 dx) was different. So figure out what part you have and or need before trying to swap.
You may need a OBD1 to OBD2b jumper harness for the distributor, I don't think they're the same. You might be able to take them apart and mix enough parts to get one that plugs into your harness and bolts to the head.
The Y8 intake has some stuff routed differently on it. Not sure what exactly, you'll have to search and find out, I know the information is out there. You may have an easier time just running the Y8 intake. I don't have any proven numbers of gains, but people tend to choose the Y8 intake over the Z6 for performance.

Rywire has an adapter harnesses for this specifically so OP if you find you need it, just buy their solution. these old harness connectors are getting pretty brittle and repining can turn into a real nighmare.
The post may still be out there, but I remember a back to back dyno test of a few different OE D-series manifolds and the Y8 intake was ever so slightly better than the Z6 and the '99-'00 Y8 tubular exhaust manifold was tops. as good as some of the aftermarket headers.

Let me know if this is a chip tuning ECU
It looks like it. compared what you have with the tech area on Phearable to make sure it's all done right.
