Default Coolant Temp Gauge Not Working

So I recently did a head gasket replacement on my 2000 civic sedan with the 1.6L, SOHC engine and during the replacement i snapped a black sensor that was connected to the engine block (below the coil pack). Not sure of that the sensor is or what it does, but if anyone can figure out what it is and help me find a replacement that would be awesome! All I know is my temp gauge doesn’t work (stays at bottom).

The images show the sensor.

I could be wrong but what I think what I need is the connector not the sensor?

You need a new sensor.. the pin head of the sensor is still stuck in your plug..
