EK Subframe w/ EG Lower Arms Advice
I have a 99 EJ6 w/ a B18C4. It has the EK subframe and am wanting to put EG lower arms on it so can then fit a traction bar without the need of welding.
Just a quick one - will I need to change the forks on the coilovers to EG forks from EK forks as the EK ones are too wide for the EG lower arms? My assumption is yes as it makes sense to, but just want confirmation off of someone who has done it before maybe? I don’t want to change the subframe, wanting to keep the EK one.
For reference I did test fit an EG lower arm to the car and all fit fine, just the fork seemed to be too wide for the arm unless you really tightened it and essentially squoze it inwards…
TIA.

Not sure where you heard you need to do welding to install a traction bar on an EK but you dont

Where did you hear that?
Bolts on fine. I run one a set on my EK hatch. Sorry pics are bleh. But it bolts on non-SI (EJ chassis) front arms with no modifcation. It would also bolt to SI (EM1) arms, brackets included.
EM1/EK9 FLCA are stamped/welded type, if you have those you need to 'downgrade' to the traditional two piece arms of the lower trims. Unless a previous owner of the car upgraded, OP should be just fine.
To YBLEGAL's point, nobody reasonable is welding brackets onto their FLCAs.
