Engine Shake
Hello, just installed new head gasket, timing belt and water pump. 1.7 Vtec. Triple checked the timing marks, seemed ok. Car runs smooth at 1000 rpm but at idle, the engine shakes (750, 800 rpm?) Can feel it through out the car. No lack of acceleration, no misfire, no codes. Could the timing be out slightly (1 tooth?). Next up going back in to adjust valves, would that help? Please reply Thanks!!
I replaced the temp sensor on one and it smoothed out . Not sure how n=bad it's shaking but it sounds familiar , don't assume it's from the work you did things can go bad by pure coincidence
Thanks for the reply, i disconnected the temperature sensor (next to thermostat housing) and wired the fans on a toggle switch. After quick warm up, i turn on fans.
Im working on the car today. Re-check the timing marks and doing the valve adjustment. I will keep you informed. Again, thanks for the reply

Good point!! I did the valve adjustment today and a noticeable difference (less shake) intake valves too tight, exhaust too loose. .008 for the intake now, .010 for the exhaust now. Timing again, bang on! Had a valve cover bolt broken in the head also. Easy out, ..... gotter done!!! (slight oil leak corner of valve cover) Siliconed the usual corners, ..... all good. Didn't realize the computer would **** the bed on the temp sensor, will go back to that, run the car (commuter car, highway miles) see if that dumbies it up. Will keep in touch
Without the accurate information the computer may get weird from what I understand , A valve adjustment can also do wonders , I'm no technician so whatever works for you is good .
