I had a grabby clutch, or at least thats what I thought.
When I replaced the clutch a couple years ago I was determined to eliminate the grabby clutch I had. I remember Honda clutches being very smooth and easy to use. So I had the flywheel resurfaced, I bought quality name brand parts, I did everything by the book, but in the end I was disappointed because the clutch really didn't feel any better than before. This past Friday I noticed a bit of hesitation under acceleration so based on previous experience, I replaced the igniter in my distributor with one from my stash of junk yard parts. It clearly solved the hesitation and I was pleased with myself for correctly identifying the problem and for having the spare igniter on hand. I'm not sure its related, perhaps its just my imagination, but it seems like the clutch is suddenly not grabby anymore. My question is; Can a weak igniter cause the sensation of a grabby clutch? Has anyone else ever experienced this?
