Icon5 Indicator for activated VSA flashes after ABS sensor replacement

Hi,

Have a Civic 2009, VIII Hatchback (FN, FK) 1.8 (FN1, FK2) (103 kW / 140 hk)

Had to replace my rear axle beam due to rust and decided to replace everything except the shaft journals (axle pins) and wheel bearing hubs, as they were fine.

When dismantling the ABS-sensors they obviously broke. I replaced them with new having corresponding part# 57475-SMG and 57470-SMG.

The sensor pulse rings at the bearing hubs are cleaned and nice. Brake system is flushed properly, and pedal is firm.

Now when test driving the “indicator for activated VSA” immediately flashes at throttle and there is no throttle response. It is only the yellow triangle that flashes. The “VSA” indicator is off.

If I turn the VSA off with the VSA button there is throttle response, but the ABS system makes a noise when you brake a little harder.

Any idea on this? Is there a calibration procedure after replacing sensors? When checking youtube people tend to just replace the hardware and everything is fine.

Thank you in advance.

//Tomas

Hmm possibly one or both of the speed sensors is bad. When mine went out it would activate abs under 20mph. Also it would do it only for the corresponding wheel with the bad sensor. If you unplug the sensor and drive does it still do the abs pulse or not? If not then I'd assume the sensor is giving faulty readings.

Thanks for response.
Bad luck if one or two new sensors are faulty. Intented to test them but as they seem to be active with hall sensor I understand a lab scope is needed. Maybe purchase two other ones and replace one at the time.
I was mostly curious if anyone knew that calibration or reset of any kind is necessary after rear sensor replacement. Read about VSA reset but don't find it overly consistent with my error symptom.

It was one or both of the two brand new sensors that didnt work. Bought another two ones (different brand) and they worked straight on.
All good.
