D16Y8 to D16Y7
Hey
So i am currently have a 98 Civic EX that i threw a rod in, so i took out the Y8 and have been rebuilding it and im using that as an excuse to build a built motor so its taking some time. Anyway, so i just have the shell waiting for its new motor & my daily driver isnt running anymore and isnt really worth fixing so i will need a car to drive. And since i am still a ways out on my motor being done not including tuning and whatever else plus it wont be the ideal daily, i am thinking of using the shell to just drop another motor in, i cant find a good running y8 to put in it but i came across a 98 LX that was hit in the rear so motor is still good but it has a Y7 so i am debating putting the y7 into the EX shell i have since the motor will just bolt right in, but i am trying to figure out if i will need to motify my harness and if my ECU will work, I have seen a lot of threads of a Y7 to Y8 swap but non really in my situation. so just looking for a little info

Y7 harness and ECU (manual trans). since you're planning to reinstall the Y8 later, you won't want to cut up the Y8 harness to work with the Y7.
can't remember if you have to borrow the driver's side mount bracket from the Y8 or not... compare those before install.
don't bother with the Y7 exhaust manifold, just reuse the Y8- it's better
the same could be said for the intake manifold, but that can easily be swapped later if you decide to.
