The thermostat seems to have failed in the safe mode.... cracked open... not obvious in the summer months... the cooling system is efficient... As the weather has cooled a bit, yes, coastal California, we run the heater more than the AC... it took a good 5 miles for the temp gauge to show any activity...In stop and go traffic it will run slightly above the normal 1/3, turning on the AC will lower the temp really fast!
My question : any good brand, I used the Stant, and this is the 2nd time in 4 years that the thermostat has failed in the open... of course no OEM from Honda... Last failure was in winter and I had to put a cardboard in front of the radiator to have heat inside.
Finally done, another stant bit the dust, and here is the pict of the stant on the left with the failed rubber seal and the new motorad on the right Failed Stant , New motorad on right
Edit : the rubber gasket on the motorad is in the wrong position -inside out-
