Default D16V1 oil consumption

How common problem oil consumption is with this D16V1 engine and is there known common reason that causes it?

I bought car when it had mileage: 160000km and is was already consuming 0.5l/1000km, now it has 200000km and maybe little more, 0.6-0.7l/1000km.
Have you ever heard bad PCV valve causing oil consumption and oil leaks (cylinder head cover was leaking) in this engine? Or is the problem most likely with bad valve stem seals or piston rings?

Most common oil leak on the D-series engine are from the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket and distributor o-ring. Rarer are from the camshaft seal and both front and rear crankshaft seals.

If you suspect your valve stem seals or ring land leaking, just drive at freeway speed and floor it for a few seconds. Do you see white or blue smoke coming from behind your car? Best to have another person follow and look at it you while you do this so you can focus on the road.
