Icon5 Will this VTEC Solenoid 15810-P30-005 fit my D16Y1?

Hi All,

About to buy a VTEC Solenoid spool valve assembly from Ebay but want to confirm it will match my car's broken one. I dont want to destroy my engine or timing etc. I can't find any specific ones for my engine code D16Y1 anymore so I wonder if this one will fit and work? Below is the ad for the one I think may fit but need your help to confirm as the ad states its for B16, B17 and B18 etc.

This below pictures are off the one from the ad. The ad says its for B series engines and when I asked the seller whether it fits my engine he says it does. But I want to be sure.

JRCivic1 a very helpful member of this forum helped me before on an earlier thread that says the D16Z6 ones match my D16Y1 engine which was helpful however there is also none available for the D16Z6. This is the only one I can find on the interent for sale thats brand new and looks like the gasket side fits. Position of the sensor is the only thing that looks different to me.
Can anyone help please? My car is out of action and really need to get it going safely again.

Thanks everyone!

Regards
Chris

The d16z6 would be identical to the one you have I think? but the one on ebay you looked at will work, just the plug is postioned different.
Having the one that is broken will not really harm your engine, just won't be activating V-TEC..

FYI, the photo in the pinkish bag is a genuine part. The other two photos with the bubble wrap are of a Chinese knock off. Hopefully you don't end up with a fake.

The one that you are ordering from EBay is a cheap Chinese fake. The pressure switch sticks out of the middle of the housing on the "B" series VTEC assembly (and the one in the ad) whereas, the one on your engine points the pressure switch out the side toward the distributor. Mechanically, they are interchangeable... however, the wiring for your pressure switch may not reach the new position of the pressure switch on the replacement VTEC assembly. If the wiring doesn't fit, you may consider moving the new pressure switch and VTEC solenoid to your old VTEC body. The question you have to ask is will the new junk parts actually work ?

Hi guys, thanks for the info. Good point. I realise the difference, there are alot of cheap nasty fake ones on here. The thing is since it's only a VTEC Solenoid (worst that can happen it stops activating VTEC like mine is doing currently) then is it worth actually getting a cheap chinese knock off? The knock offs are about $75 AU whereas the pink bag one that is genuine is $350+. The thing is do I pay for the genuine risking getting tricked into it being fake and spending $300+ on a pink plastic bag or go knock off for way cheaper and if it fails, get refund or just deal with it and go genuine next time?

I dont mind going genuine and paying for it, but only if it is in fact genuine.

Thanks guys

If you want genuine Honda parts buy from Showtime on Ebay, all parts are genuine Honda shipped from Japan directly, I just purchased a new Vtec solenoid for under $200, genuine box and parts label and came in the pink plastic all OEM parts usually come in, in fact almost all my parts for my engine rebuild came from him. I also got a new IACV from him too! OEM denso part!

Thanks wunfstgsr, I will check him out. I got my part but got a full refund because.........the gasket was facing the other way around! so Mirror image to mine. How frustrating. It seems to be for a LHD car. Mine is AUS delivered so like the JDM one is RHD, I didn't know that made a difference to engine parts or is it just the spool valve?
I want to know if this one from this ebay seller is RHD or same orientation like my image.

Thanks guys

RHD or LHD makes no difference on the part... the engine still faces the same way. The Prelude/Accord VTEC solenoid assembly is mirror imaged from the '92-95 "D" series type although appears to look very similar. Could it be possible that the product that you received was mis-boxed ? The photos that you posted above appear to be correct... are you saying that the product that you ACTUALLY received was flipped the other way (essentially a "mirror image" of what you have) ?

Hi JRCivic

Yes, I got a part different from the orientation of the pic I posted earlier. For some reson he said its the same??? But communication isn't always the best with these Ebay guys. They try though. Yes so essentially its mirror image to mine so holes line up but gasket is orientated the other way. The ad says for B series and D series. I found that to be sus as well. Anyway I found a second hand one, unfortunetly not new and it seems I cant find any new ones for my Civic model. Here's my car's details incase you guys happen to stumble upon one. 1994 EH9 D16Y1 VIN: JHMEH95900S301521 1.6L SOHC VTEC Honda Civic.

Thanks guys.
Appreciate the knowledge.

Thank you. I'm contacting the seller now to ask if it will work on mine. So I got the other one and just installed it and still no luck. It fits perfectly, but I still have the engine light hard on. The error code its giving me is Code 22 V-TEC pressure solenoid. So I'm guessing I'm replacing the right part? Unless you guys know what else or exactly it might be? Other than that, the car and engine runs fine besides the engine light. I haven't noticed anything else thats an issue.

Thanks all.

Then your issue is in the wiring not the solenoid then.
