Hey everyone so recently I bought a 1996 Honda civic EX 2dr and everything has been perfectly fine with it, no issues up until a few days ago. I was unable to open my driver side door from the outside. When i took apart the door and looked inside I saw that the rod that connects the door handle and the door latch came off. I thought it was the plastic clip at first so i replaced that but when i opened the door from the outside the rod just popped off again. I then decided to take a look at the latch and the handle itself, replaced them both since the parts are relatively inexpensive and the rod still comes off when I pull the handle. I'm lost now, any ideas on how to fix this?
