Somebody in my iRacing league discord posted their 20th anniversary note from H-T.com, and it put me on a nostalgia trail. Might as well give and update! My R still gets semi-regular exercise, and one of my daughter's favorite outings is to take the Type R to dinner with dad. The TEINs blew up a few years ago at a track day at Daytona, so I switched to some Koni race dampers and the 450f/600r coil-overs I've been sitting on since like 2003. Most recently did another Track Night In America at Daytona, happily bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th across the start/finish line. Until the last session, where a weird whump and an odd vibration brought me in to discover that a 10-inch chunk of the right front Azenis had let go. Thankfully the carcass held, damage was limited to the tire itself and a cut to the fender liner where it got pressed between the now extra-diameter tire and the metal.

Might've been age, although they've been stored properly. I think it was a mix of random (otherwise the other four might've let go too) and Daytona being about as hard on a right front as anything can be at speed. The tires also had a few autocrosses and a Sebring TNIA under their belt, so it wasn't because they were too new. Maybe something cut it, who knows.
To their credit, Falken honored the 5-year warranty and I got a new one for like $40 (the amount used off the last one.)
Whoa, Falken is honoring the warranty even from track use? I had a few cord from autocross, but I chalked it up to to normal shoulder wear. (middle and insides looked fine..
