Default EM1 3.5" straight pipe. Resonator that will fit?

I'm currently running a turbo'd b16 that was fitted with a 3.5" straight pipe when I purchased the car. I've read several postings where many have suggested the Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator which I ordered to be installed. When attempting to install it, it's very obvious that the diameter of the resonator that it's not going to fit. The problem being though is that I believe a lot of people that have used that resonator, are only running a 2.5" exhaust, which would probably make the width of that resonator slightly smaller than the one that fit's on a 3.5" pipe (?). The exhaust channel itself doesn't allow for a lot of space. Can anyone running a 3.5" exhaust suggest a working alternative? And I acknowledge that the diameter of the pipe itself and the smaller channel doesn't allow for much in the way of a thick resonator which does somewhat defeat the purpose of quieting things down. But, with the decibels that the current exhaust is putting out, I will take any reduction over none at all.

Thanks in advance.

this setup has about 400hp at the flywheel?

if not, go to 3" or 2.75" so a resonator will fit.

if yes, try looking for a perf-core, bottle style "glasspack" it won't be as quiet as the Vibrant, but should be better than nothing
