(im fairly new to the car scene, with this being my first project car i know i'm a dumbass)
Hey so I've got a 1991 Honda Civic DX, 4D and while I was changing and cleaning the passanger side turn signal (near the headlights) the lights just stopped working all of a sudden, which I automaticly assumed maybe the battery died, although I've got my self a new battery so it could be anything else. I went ahead and waited for the next day and tried again in the morning, and the car just wouldnt crank, it would hum back to me. The horn wouldnt work either.
My guesses are either the alternator or starter, but i would assume the car would at least crank if it was the alternator. Was wondering if I could get a couple opinions and tips on how to diagnoise the issue 👍
A video of me trying to turn it on is attached below
Re: Car doesnt crank after changing turn signal???
I’d start by making sure your starter signal wire is good, could be as simple as that, if you have a buddy have him try to start it while you listen to the starter, if it clicks but still doesn’t crank it’s either not getting enough juice, or is bad.
willing to bet the starter took a ****, either brushes or magnets
Re: Car doesnt crank after changing turn signal???
Sounds good, although the car isnt beeping or making any noises whenever you turn the key or open the door or try to turn the lights on, the whole thing is just dead 😭. So I'll test the battery and probably change the alternator just for the hell of it, and i wouldnt be opposed to replacing the starter either just for the hell of it (despite it being in a hard place to reach fml). Honestly may be a good idea to start takings things out, replacing and cleaning cause this engine bay looks like it havnt been touched since it was produced. I've already have multiple bolts and screws snap on me it's terrible 😔

May have shorted something. Suggest not throwing any parts at it - for now.
Let me hazard a guess here: the key was left on & the battery was NOT disconnected for this task. If true, at least a soft lesson was learned.
Try charging the battery & please report any improvements.
This failure could have been much worse, & a scan will help to pinpoint any possible permanent damage.

Thank god, it seems like i was overreacting and it was infact just the battery that needed some charging !
