Will a leaky inner seal of a distributor look like a rear main seal. I redid my valve cover and finally added gasket on the four corners by cam caps.

I also changed out the o ring for the distributor where it meets the block. And inside the hole is all oil

A leaking distributor can leak like a bad real main seal. Is it oily inside your distributor?

In my case, for some reason mine was still leaking even with a new oring and I had to put a light coat of hondabond on the oring to stop the leak on my 00 Civic

 

Pull the cap and inspect. that will tell you if the internal o ring is leaking.

Mine was leaking right onto the radiator hose and transmission. Thought it was just the outer o ring turned out to be the internal.
