Default Temperature level goes up even with the ignition

Hi does anyone know why my temperature level goes high when I put the ignition and with the engine on stays up high. It happens always even when the car is totally cold after some days without using it. I check the temperature in a OBD scanner and it looks normal

That works... the temperature gauge in the instrument cluster is driven by a single wire sensor on the transmission end of the cylinder head just below the distributor. The wire color should be yellow/red (stripe). If this wire is bare/exposed anywhere between the gauge and the sensor, it can "ground out" which drives the gauge needle all the way to HOT... or above. If this continues, the gauge itself may get damaged. If you see no damage to the wire close to the sensor, unplug it from the sensor itself and see if the gauge needle stops moving. If so, then the sending unit/sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. If the gauge needle continues to climb, you definitely have a short in the wire and you need to track it down.

Yes, in the end of the cable (where it plugs in to the engine) is exposed tomorrow I will try to put some tape on it.
