Oil for 1985 Accord
Hey all. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm just learning to work on cars and I've seen conflicting information on the internet between 5w30 and 10w40. The car has an es2 engine. The car didn't come with an owner's manual so unfortunately I can't just look it up.
Additionally, the car is basically out of oil at the moment. The oil light came on the other day and when I checked it the dip stick came out dry. Should I just add oil, or should I just take it in for an oil change and new filter?

Is this a high-mileage vehicle? How long have you owned this ride, & is the engine oil level occasionally checked - by anybody?
Do hope it's not the case here, but bear in mind that the engine may already be toast. Tres aveMarķas.
Sure, one could pour some correct viscosity / grade of oil in there & pray - but were this my ride, I'd first be earnestly looking for any obvious oil leaks under the hood, and/or burned oil residue on the spark plugs. G' luck!
