2012 Honda Crv Sound
Hi all,
I am trying to decipher what this sound is that I included in my attached video. I recently acquired this car and had it checked out by a local mechanic right away. The only thing the mechanic noted was that the tires were cupping. He didn’t specify how many or which ones were but said that I should replace the tires eventually. As I have been driving it I noticed this helicopter sound at around 65+ mph along with some minor wheel vibrations. Also, around 30-50mph there is a more quiet but still audible circular humming sound. I am wondering if this is being caused be the tires or a wheel bearing potentially? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

have you done a visual inspection on your brakes? pads, calipers, rotors, wheels, look in the cooling fins of the rotors?
It kind of sounds like a wheel bearing to me, but also sounds like it might be engine related. if it doesn't change by raving the engine, then its more likely drivetrain related.
To check if its a wheel bearing, you can enlist the help of a capable friend, who you can ask to drive around you in a empty parking lot. So you can better locate where the
noise is coming from. You could also jack up each wheel and spin the wheel and see if it makes a grinding noise. Move the top and bottom of the wheel in and out and see
if there is movement, also move the tire side to side / in and out, checking for any movement that indicates a worn out bearing. Some times CV joints can make those kind of noises as well.
