Can this work? By installing an exhaust cam gear onto an intake camshaft and running that cam on the exhaust side. RBC head, vtec both intake and exhaust.

Basically I have a complete RBC head minus an exhaust cam. I could easily get another vtec intake cam from the junkyard out of a k24z motor. Interestingly the k24z engines also has its own vtec rocker setup which could theoretically be installed into an older VTEC head as well.

probably a dumb question but a solid answer on this would be helpful.

I can see how it wouldn’t work. I got a k20z3 exhaust cam, the gear end is different.

currently this head has a k24z3 intake cam, k20z3 exhaust cam, k24z3 cam holders, k20z3 rocker assembly, k20z3 rocker shafts.

I like the k24z3 intake cam, I hear it’s a good profile with 50* vtc gear.

however the low cam lobes are smaller than the k20 style and don’t line up perfectly.

probably it’s fine but the ideal setup might be to use the k24z3 rocker assembly with that cam.
