Vibration in steering wheel
2004 Civic 1.7 Manual trans Maybe someone has seen this, at highway speeds- 60 to 65 mph. I am getting a vibration in the steering wheel when I release the accelerator pedal to coast. It wobbles as of it is put of balance tires but I know that isn't the issue. My tires have been balance and I swapped the wheels and tires from my wife's 02 Civic and it did the same thing. I thought maybe the axles but I have no vibration under acceleration. Motor mounts appear in good shape- no cracks or rips. Suspension is good and alignment recently done. Any ideas? Don't want to just throw parts at it.
I've been having the same issue, 2001 1.7L. I'm thinking it might be the hub assembly, what might be the best way to fix it is RSX hubs with hardware. I just don't see any other way to correct the exact problem either besides that. Any other suggestions are more than welcome.
this problem drove me crazy for months.
turned out be bad front lower engine mounts aka torque mounts.
the design errs on the side of ride comfort = premature failure.
filled them with dow window weld and problem solved for $15 lol.
timing belt jumping a notch when ign coil bit it and bad tps causing
mayhem rounds out my top 3 nightmares.
bonus: bad icm making tach jump all over the place, 8(
