92 Accord, no crank, no start, no click... good battery
Hello, I am troubleshooting a 92 Accord AT. I have read a bunch of threads with similar issues but not exactly what I am experiencing. The car will not start. It had no obvious issues before regarding this particular situation. Insert the key, turn it to CEL position all normal dash lights come on, no warning lights, no battery light, no flashing codes when jumping the connector in the passenger floorboard . Everything appears to be ok, but turn the key to position 3 (start) and all the lights go off. Appears the car is dead yet the battery shows 12.6V using a multimeter. The car appears totally dead for a few mins, pull the key out, put it back in, turn it, nothing no lights or sounds of any kind. Wait approx 5min or more, put the key back in, turn it to CEL position and the cycle repeats, all lights work, sounds work, windows, horn etc... turn the key to start and poof, all lights go out, car appears dead again. Ive checked the starter relay and it appears to work properly. All fuses appear to be good.
The symptoms dont seem to match what others report when its a starter or ignition switch. I did replace the ignition cylinder about 6 months ago without problems, pretty easy fix, but this has me a bit stumped. Anyone experience this or have insight?
