2001 Accord No Start-- No Crank
Hello!
My 2001 EX V6 Accord would on occasion (maybe every three weeks or so) would simply not crank when the ignition switch was turned to the start position. The dash lights did not dim, they simply acted normally. It has now decided to not start at all. The immobilizer light comes on, then goes off as normal with all three original keys. I replaced the ignition switch this morning (very easy) and this made no difference. it's not like a bad battery or starter as there is no immediate dimming of the dash lights when the ignition is turned to start; I can hear a relay click, sounds like it is behind the glove box. The battery and terminals are good.
So, the questions are, where to look next. Also, if the immobilizer is failing, should the car not go ahead and crank, but not start? Am I correct that the immobilizer keeps the fuel system from working, but the starter circuit should be working ok?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

if you dont hear the click click click noise ... like when the battery terminals are corroded and u think u need a jump ... i would guess its something to do with the starter itself or a grounding issue

most immobilizers are for the starter. if there is a short then this could happen. u might need to lock the doors and unlock with the key.

Im wondering if the battery cables are the issue. Especially if they aren't connected securely. ( I know you said the lights dont dim) but Im curious if the cables are an issue, or the starter is going out.

So, replaced the battery and beat on the starter motor (after ensuring the wiring for the starter was in good shape). Seems to be working now, but I feel that a new starter motor may be in my future.
Thanks for all the good ideas!

This sounds starter related. When the contacts wear they lose connection. Hitting it can wiggle the contacts to where they slightly contact which allows it to start. Next time it doesnt start hit the starter again. If it starts you can get some starter contacts if you have a Denso starter for about $15.
