Default Head milling...

I'm planning to mill my B16 head to raise .03:1 CR. How much would I have to mill it to? And doing just .03:1 CR, would there be any side effects such as pinging and cam retardation? Please help, thanks.

Just use a thinner head gasket.

They don't have thin head gaskets for B20.

if you want to find out, then get the CC size and plug in all the specs of what you know into the compression ratio formula( don't want to post it unless need be), and that will tell you exactly how much to take off to achieve desired CR...or go to C-speedracing.com and go to tech, then find C/R

Thanks, that really helped. But I have custom 10.5:1 CR pistons, what would the piston dome displacement cc would that be?

this might help...

with a stock b20 block, stock b16 head, and reducing the head gasket thickness .001(basically milling the head .001), it raised the compression from

10.205 to 10.233- so that's almost .03. Best way to do it is find the negative space your piston dome takes up and plug that in the equation

I'm sorry, I meant 0.3:1 CR . Would milling it 0.3:1 CR be safe? Would there be a hard time timing and retarding it? Would it ping? How much would I have to mill it in order to bump it up 0.3:1 CR?

.010 should bump you up .3...best thing would be to get the piston specs and do the formula again. Any time you mill over .030, you'll be in danger of skipping a tooth on your t-belt if you're not careful.

Ok cool. doesn't milling the head .01 barely surfacing the head? Milling it .01 is totally safe and hassle free right? I don't wanna worry about timing and pinging.
