Default Vtec engages late

Had some overheating issues and was able to fix by topping off some coolant and air out the bubbles. I had a check engine light but was able to unplug my battery, let it sit for one hour then plugged my battery back on. Turned on car and car run fines and engine light is off. Drove for about 50 miles and no issues, when I floored it I noticed vtec doesnt engage anymore on first gear, but second gear it engages really late like mid to upper 6k. Before the battery reset it was engaging at 5900 no issues. I wasn’t able to check the engine light before I had reset the battery, any pointers?
