Default 98 civic runing hella rich.

i recently bought a 98 civic that someone dropped a 1.6 d18y8 vtech in and it runs and drives fine but runs super rich. i feel like it has the wrong ecu but im not sure. its on a p2p-a34 ecu. previous owner says he never tuned it so would i need a different ecu or have it tuned? just need it to be a quick little daily.

You have a "Y8" ECU... the P2P in the middle of the part number confirms this. The red aftermarket throttle body has no MAP sensor on top, and if it is on the bottom, you need to make sure that it can actually READ vacuum inside the throttle body/intake manifold. This will require removing the throttle body, examining the gasket and MAP sensor port and make sure you can get signal all of the way through.

I agree with JR, check the map sensor.

You do have the correct ecu, and being obd2, chances are it is not reflashed and you are on base map. This is good.

You can now follow the oem steps;

1) do you have any check engine lights on , what are they. You can use an obd2 scanner in the stock position. It will detail you what are the codes and update us.
