Hi there, I have a 1998 honda civic Hx manual transmission. For the longest time like last 20k miles it had a p1163 code that would come and go. I never really tried to fix it since this is my winter beater and the hx specific 5 wire 02 sensor are very expensive and the car ran fine. I then got into a fender bender which actually bent up the 02 sensor slightly and it still ran fine.
Last week I started getting a little hesitation at low rpms, mostly when getting back onto the throttle after shifting, I pulled the codes and got a P1166, so I ordered a new primary o2 sensor (Bosch 13025). As the week went on the hesitation got bad, it was still at lower rpms and would clear up as you accelerated and I quit driving the car when I got a flashing check engine light and additional codes P0301,P0303,P0304
Today I replaced the o2 sensor and disconnect the battery when doing so. and then went for a drive, the hesitation restarted and check engine light came back with in 2 miles, I now have codes P0303, P0304, P0300 and Pending code P 1399 so all missfire codes now.
What would you be checking next and in what order? Thanks for any help and advice. Also I only drove it a few miles since it started running like crap again. It idles fine, should I just let it run for a bit or try to clear codes again?
Damn, so these HX's are that sensitive. It still says not ready on the scan tool for 02 sensors, If I let it run a bit more Im guessing it may throw a code for it again?
It is a NTK 24300, looks like about 220 on rock auto.
Clean out the EGR chamber and passages and the codes for misfire should clear up. Very easy to get to, just have to remove fuel rail to access the chamber.
As for the O2, NTK/Denso is the way to go for these.
