I seen a forum not to long ago saying it was possible to use the 3 wire iacv with obd1. By jumping a12 an a14 . Is that true? Any help on this? I dont really want to swap manifolds at the moment d16y7. Thank you
Obviously, that forum is garbage. Think about your question for a moment: The two wire circuit uses a 12v pulse to OPEN the piston that seals the air passage inside the IACV allowing air to pass between the front of the throttle body and into the intake manifold. The 3-wire IACV has two air passages and the piston moves from the center (neutral) position to one side or the other when voltage is commanded for either side. How exactly would one wire split into two signals move the piston from neutral to BOTH sides at the same time to operate the IACV properly ?
In short, it does NOT work. There is no way around the intake manifold swap and 2-wire IACV if you intend to use an OBD-1 ECU.

. What kind of intake should I use? An is this a complicated job to do with the wiring 2 plug iacv? Sorry for all the questions. Thank you very much an have a good day
A manual Y8 intake manifold (has a 2-wire IACV on the back of it) would be the most economical choice... or you could splurge and buy a Blox or Skunk2 intake manifold. Either way, you would merely cut the 3-wire IACV plug off your engine harness and connect a round 2-wire plug that matches the shape of the plug on the 2-wire IACV using the original blue/black and yellow/black wires (eliminating the orange/black wire). Once you have the engine bay side wired up, simply move the blue/black wire at the ECU from one side of the orange/black wire to the other side. As a side note, IF you are using some type of ECU conversion harness, check it to see if it has a wire at both D12 and D14. If it does, no wiring changes at the ECU plugs will be necessary. If you are using a manual Y8 ECU that plugs directly into the engine harness, you WILL have to move the blue/black wire.
