Need help with ECU!
I’ve looked around and haven’t seen if anyone’s asked this. I’m new to the car scene and I’m doing an auto to manual swap on my 98 ek civic. The question I have is: what ecu do I use? I’m following the other forum that posted how to do a swap, and they used mostly y8 parts. But for me my availability is different
I got a cheap d series transmission, 92-95 long gear from a d15 I believe? So do I use a y8 manual ecu like the forum states or do I have to use a different one? Also can I use the y8 intake manifold and y8 throttle body even with a 92-95 d series transmission? My main concern however is the ECU since I don’t wanna run all these codes and stuff.

When it comes to manual, the transmission doesn't factor into which ECU you use. It's all about the engine.
If you're piecing together an engine with a known OEM combination of parts, get the ECU from the correct trim civic your trying to emulate.
If your combination is nothing like a motor Honda sold from the factory, then you should use a chipped ECU, and maybe even get it tuned.

use a 96 to 98 P2P ecu and that ends the last 3 letters for manual trans I beileve A02 etc so it's a manual trans ecu. Also be aware that the Y8 manual and Y8 auto IM use different IACVs, so plugs will be different and some wiring will need to happen. This much I know for sure.
The trans makes no difference which year you use as long as it's years 90 to '00. It will not throw any codes.
