Default Quick question about an auto-to-manual swap

Heya, I have a 99 Civic LX Sedan, which is currently Autotragic, and I'd like to change it soon. At the moment (meaning as long as I have the D16Y7 in the car) I'm building it for fuel efficiency, and something I enjoy looking at.

But I have a question. I'm reading over this Sticky and it says to use a manual P2P ECU and a manual Y8 Intake Manifold and TB. They were swapping into an EX, so I could understand that. But the way it was worded, I understood it as, 'use the Y8 Manual IM and TB, and P2P ECU no matter what.'

Do I follow his instruction and use a Y8 IM and TB, and P2P ECU on a never opened Y7 motor? I know I need to convert to a 2-wire IACV. Logic would tell me to use a manual Y7 IM and TB, and P2E manual ECU, but do they differ from their Y8 counterparts besides being for a different head? Logic would also tell me it'll throw a code because I don't have VTEC.

Off-topic: I'd also swap out my 5th gear for a longer HF 5th, and the others I'd leave alone.

If there's anything I left unclear, let me know. Thanks!

Use all Y7 parts, don't use any of the Y8 stuff.

Alrighty. I guess just using a 2-wire IACV is the important part?

i have the same issue. You say use all the y7 stuff, does that include the IACV? because i dont really want to replace the manifold or de-pin things.

even bought a mt P2E ecu.

I'm down to replace manifold, but i might use the y7 manifold and a y8 iacv, unless told otherwise

You can't do that with the p2e ecu. Try to keep it as simple as possible because if you go diving into something you're not familiar with than it causes more issues for you. Find all that you need and a p2e 5spd ecu, if your car is obd2b than get the obd2b version, if its obd2a than get the obd2a. All of the parts you need can be obtain at the wrench a part. Go on a nice dry day because you don't want to laying on a wet ground.

Ah shet, I forgot about the ODB2a and b difference. I got the ECU from a guy for $40, same guy I got the trans from. Both components were from a '97 civic hatch. Will it complicate matters further?

I'm still unclear about which manifold to use because of 2 vs 3 wire. I'll look at some wiring diagrams in my Haynes manual and see what all I can make sense of.

If your engine is a y7 then you can reuse your intake manifold and throttle body. No splicing of wires just get the correct 5 speed Ecu.

Do you have a source for that? Or are you speaking from experience?

If you do a part search on the 5spd version of the y7 you'll see it still uses the 3wire iacv.

You gotta spot the minor details in that post, when running the clutch line for a 96-00 it does not look like the images he has, thats because he's using a post from a 92-95 eg civic.

Oh yea, good point. Then I think I might already have the clutch line, in that case. I got it with the trans and wasn't sure if it was the right one lol
