Looks like all there's just a plug without the dip stick , Is that normal ? ?

How do you check the fluid level ? , My friend came over and the cap was lying on a wire harness in the motor bay , We put it back in but there's no telling how long he was driving around like that , Thanks

 

Personally I would drain/refill the transmission if the cap was off to try to get any debris out of there that could have gotten inside. Especially if it hasn't been changed in the last 30k miles anyways. There is usually a tiny rubber vent on the top that can get plugged up that would be worth cleaning to make sure it doesn't happen again. Plenty of good videos on how to change fluid. They will also show the level check afterwards if you decide to go that route
