Default 2006 CRV ECM change

Hello everyone. My name is Robert and I own a 2006 CRV - UK. This is my 1st post here and if I need to post this in another area, please let me know and I will do so. The question is I don't have my original ECU and ignition assembly (long story). I do have original ECU box number. I have located a few used plug and play ECUs with key and transponders. If the part number is same as my old ECU, will these work? Any input will be appreciated.

Yes but you will still need to program the immobilizer as the MICU is also part of the system and they will all need pairing.

Thanks for the response. Which is the immobilizer? Where is it found? Is it the one circled in red?
I understand that it is all coming from the same vehicle. The ECU, key, and the immobilizer. It still needs programming? Pardon my ignorance. Just want to make sure. Thanks again.

Is it the one circled in red?

Yes that's the antenna for a part of the immobilizer system. If you don't have it you will need it.

ECU, MICU, and Antenna all need to be paired together and then have your keys programmed in.

Last question. I've attached a picture of what Iam looking at. If all these are from a working vehicle, is there something missing here that I still need to program?

The MICU, it's part of the under dash fuse panel.

@Ryanthegreat1 So to answer my own question, these are not plug and play as advertised. The existing MICU under my dash then needs to be programmed to actually work! I'm very disappointed 😞. Thanks for the response and information. Just wanted to make sure I didn't spend money on this and be disappointed if it didn't work.

It will work but you need the tool or someone with the tools to do the immobilizer configuration.

I changed my Ecu and was able to add existing keys to the ecu/immobilizer using an Autel ap200 dongle. Not sure if that helps.

@starchland I'm willing to give it a try but I need to replace the ECU along with matcging immobilizer and key, all from a used vehicle with same number as my old one. I believe problem will be programing the MICU under the dash and I'm not sure the Autel will do that.

I use an Autel 906 for all my immobilizer stuff. I have a 200 but not for Hondas. It does look like the same software on the 200 as the 906.

Yes.

MICU needs to be coded to the key/ecu? Can someone elaborate on that?

just trying to make sense of this. I have changed my ecu before without issue. Micu and key are coded together as well?

@starchlandMy original post. I need to replace what's on the picture in this thread. My original MICU is still in my 06 CRV. I am reading that the MICU needs to be programmed to the components I am wanting to purchase from a junked CRV with the same ECU number 37820-PPLA-93.

If you replaced your ECU and then used the Autel immobilizer function for ECU replacement then it coded in the MICU for you.

The MICU started to be included in the immobilizer handshake when the K series came about. It was an effort to make the immobilizer that much harder to bypass for theft reasons.

2002 CRV FWD, AT, CRZ, Japan build and I changed the MICU with a junk yard find and it did not need to be programmed. I did it again with the correct year MICU and it worked also.
The programming is in the immobilizer module and the ECM.

I was wondering about a set (Module, ign, keys, and ECM) and if it would work but have not tested that.

@sf340b I've read on other posts that in earlier models, there was no need to program MICU. Unfortunately for 2006, it needs the be programmed as a set with all the components.

@Ryanthegreat1 I can keep the MICU currently under dash and program it with the Autel, correct?

this is what I figured (immobilizer/ecm) and from experience as well. Mine is 05 dbw fwiw.

@Ryanthegreat1 Thanks for the help. Once I gather the parts and the Autel MaxiAP AP200, I will attempt this. Once I do, I will report back for future reference in case someone else needs help.
