Well the 1992-1995 Si hatch and 1993-1995 EX coupe are identical save for a few things:

1. Si had rear discs in all years. Only 1994-1995 EX with ABS had rear discs.
2. Seat cloth patterns were different on the two cars.
3. Only the EX had power windows and doorlocks.
4. EX coupe had A/C standard - 1992-1993 Si had optional A/C.
5. EX coupe had tweeters in the front doorpanels and standard nice Acoustic Research tape deck. Si hatch had radio as an option. Radio was NOT standard on Si hatch.

Weight difference?

The 1993 EX coupe 5 speed weighs 2390lbs. as reported in the 1993 Civic sales brochure.

The 1993 Si hatch weighed 2326lbs. according to the same source.

So that's 64lbs. of difference between the two.

Keep in mind that the 1993 EX coupe had rear drums which are lighter than rear discs. If both are rear disc-equipped then the difference would be over 70lbs. easily.

All that's left is the obvious difference of the *** ends.

Both cars use the exact same powertrain, front ends, dashes, etc.

That good enough?

Both cars use the exact same powertrain
Ex 5th gear = .702
Si 5th gear = .750

Both S20 trannies on the D16Z6.

why did they even make an si for that gen anyways. its basically an ex right? same almost everything. why would ppl dish out the money for an si, when they can get the ex. i was wondering the same thing for this gen as well. i mean i have a 93 si and its single cam. i wonder why they even made an si for this gen...maybe im jus griping heh.

It's market segmentation, IMHO.

So customers get to have higher-powered D16Z6 on all trim levels (Si hatch, EX coupe/sedan).
