Default Worth it to swap? 1990 DX Hatchback Automatic

Hi everyone,
I've looking into buying a 80/90s honda with a strict budget of under 7k. My dream car is a CRX but those are few and far between in decent condition. I recently saw a Civic DX hatch listed for $4500 with 114163 on the odometer. Its from the original owner and has full maintenance records. The only issue is it's an automatic. Is the auto something you can live with? How difficult/expensive is the swap to manual? I've wrenched on a few cars but nothing beyond changing some brake master cylinders or fuel pumps. I'm in college and don't have access to a proper workshop or car lifts so I might end up hiring a shop to do it.
