Default RD1 & RD7 drivetrain compatibility

Hi,
I have an RD1 with no propshaft, rear diff or rear drive shafts.
I can get all the above 2nd hand but just need to make sure that it will all be ok for my RD1 if the car it's coming off is an RD7. are the gear ratios the same as the RD1 etc.

The rear diff, probably.

The rest of it, no.

Oh, I would have thought that the diff would be the probable problem, could you expand on what the issues with the other bits might be?

Lengths and spline counts. RD1 is much smaller needing much shorter shafting.

If you get one from an 05-06, it will have the ramp up clutch system. An added bonus.

There is plenty of info about the diff being swappable, he's asking about the prop shaft, axles, and probably the knuckle too.
Not sure the newer generation stuff will directly bolt on and work.

Best way to check would be to compare rear axle part numbers between an 05-06 and any RD1. If those match up then you should be good for those too at least.

The RD1 and RD7 only share the rear diff. Everything else is different. The RD1 is based off the 6th gen. The RD7 is based on the 7th gen civic. He can only use RD1 parts. If he had a 2nd gen, he could use element parts. The rear suspension is almost identical. Maybe a JDM car like the orthia or stepwgn can be used, but OP probably wouldn't have access to those if he doesn't have an RD1 nearby.
