1993 honda accord, low stumbling idle?
Hello all, I have a question about my issue that I'm having with my accord. It has this low erratic idle that happens all the time, weather cold or hot. but it smoothens away while I'm giving it throttle. Its not the up, down, up, down idle issue associated with the 2 idle valves on the intake. The accord has 300,000 plus on it, but it still runs descent for the age and miles on it. All that I've done to it was. New cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. Bled the cooling system, cleaned the FITV + carburetor, Checked for any vacuum leaks and didn't find any. Adjust valves to specs, which they were pretty much spot on, I don't have any tools for testing fuel related parts. But I'm pretty sure I'm getting fuel pressure, from what I've done. i did the long screwdriver to test for a pulse from the injectors, and they were ticking pretty much as id assume they are supposed to be. I did do a compression test & leak down test, and I'm pretty sure the problem exist in this area. On the compression test ( Cyl 1- 115 psi,) (Cyl 2- 180 psi,) (Cyl 3- 185 psi,) (Cyl 4- 180 psi ). On the leak down test, its giving me a moderate leak on the exhaust side of the #1 cylinder, the one closest to the power steering pump. It doesn't leak air from the intake, Coolant neck, oil dip stick tube or the cap, but it does from the exhaust. I can pretty much slow the leak if i use a screwdriver and wedge the spring up a little, so I'm pretty sure that just the one valve is the culprit. So the question to all this info is, would the lower compression cause the idle issue? And are there any tricks for this problem? would the seafoam cleaning in the intake possibly help? I've heard that it could go either way with the foam treatment, could make it better or could make it worse I know its looking like time for a head pull, but I'm trying to get out of that as much as possible. Any input would be appreciated on this problem
