Default Traction bar on pillow ball style front LCA

Looking for help on how to install a traction bar on my 2000 SiR that has pillow ball style front lower control arms
Was thinking of making a plate that goes from bolt hole to bolt hole and then attach the mount to that.
Anybody have an easier method?

TIA

the bracket that came with the traction bar matches to the LCA on the left, my car has the pillow ball LCA on the right (no holes for the bracket)

The brackets are supposed to mount to the cast style LCA, not the pillow ball style

this type of traction bar requires the forward joint to be on axis with the two inner joints of the LCA. some variance in that position due to manufacturing tolerances is allowable because the compliance of the rubber joints can compensate for it. I think the risk of binding will increase when combined with spherical joints if things don't line up perfectly. if that rear rubber bushing is also replaced with a spherical it's probably going to result in the same or better motion control than the traction bar would provide.

they also cost slightly less than the traction bar if you're looking at name brand stuff.

Traction bars like the Truhart bar come with small brackets that can be welded to 98-00 that add an attachment point for the heim joint.

I would be inclined to just swap the stamped lower arms for the cast style, rather than bunking up your stamped arms to make something work.

As @hondamark35 pointed out though, if you've got sphericals everywhere else the traction bar is redundant and more likely to be a source of binding than anything else.

Traction bars were always kind of a hack until we came up with better solutions for motion control anyway.

Even for launching you think? Against wheel hop?

If you have full spherical there's virtually not hop already. This is the best solution for most setups. If it's a high hp drag car with slicks, that's a pretty narrow application where you might not care about trashing the kinematics for everything but launching the car. A traction bar may save a subframe from breaking in these applications too.

The base 96-00 cast arms are a straight swap for the 99-00 Si stamped arms. You just need to bring the shock forks along as well.

My traction bar looks cool though

Eventually I'll go full spherical on the Civic. I want to get at least some mileage on my current rubber/urethane though.

Thanks all for the input, agreed, a bar across the 2 holes is a bad idea.

I'll show what i've come up with in a couple days
