Brake light stays on while I drive, even tho the Ebrake handle is down... what gives?
When start my car up in the mornign, my brake light stays on, even though I have the ebrake handle down. sometimes it goes away, but if i step on the breaks hard, it comes back on, until i let go, then it goes off again. sometimes it stays on the whole day. it has done this ever since I bought the car. It's a 98 SH by the way. any suggestions?

One of the filaments in either of your taillights is out. Have someone step on the brakes while you watch from behind.
I meant the brake light on my instrument cluster. all my lights are working fine, just the light that comes on in the dash when you pull the ebrake handle stays lit.

Are you positive you dont have a partial taillight out? One of them when you hit the brakes might not be lighting up with the other filament. Double check.

There is a very simple sensor under the E brake lever. Pull the armrest off and make sure that it is tight. One bolt came loose, which changed the position of the sensor and triggered my E brake light.
check your master cylinder and slave cylinder fluids.
Pull the master cylinder cap off and tap the cap a little then put it back in. Make sure that the brake fluid is at the correct level. The float likes to stick. If that dosent work then check the adjustment on the e-brake cables and tighten the 10mm adjustment bolt behind the e-brake if there loose. If the handle dosent go all the way down or is loose then tightne the cable adj. nut.
I used to own an Accord that had the same problem. I later found out my brake fluid was just a little under low. Filled it back up to high and everything was okay.
hey guys thanks for the tips. just checked the brake fluid, it's about 1/2 an inch above the min line, and 1/2" below max. I'll add some more fluid. Thanks for the help

Look to the left of the brake booster if your staring at the engine
on the drivers side.

When you say it's fine, do you mean there is some in there,
or do you mean it's completely full and topped off with fluid?
