2012 Civic SI / Intermittent A/C issues…
I recently purchased a 2012 Civic SI with 102k miles and started having an issue with my a/c intermittently cooling a few weeks ago. Well as of a couple of days ago it stopped cooling all together. I’ve gone through the basic checks but have exhausted my abilities to diagnose the issue any further without taking it to a shop. The compressor clutch actually seems to work fine and turns on/off with the toggling of the switch. Both fans also turn on/off with the toggling of the switch. The system pressure with the engine off is 100psi and while running the low side is 12.5psi and the high side is 110psi (should be 25-35 and 175-185), so the pressure is obviously low. The high pressure line is slightly cool to the touch and low pressure side is slightly warmer but still cool. My temp probe in the vent with vehicle in motion is reading 80F with an ambient temp of around 85F. I have noticed that even when it was cooling intermittently that the clutch never cycled on/off. Also the bottom half of the condenser looks pretty banged up from road debris and doesn’t appear to have any punctures in the coil but I’m willing to bet there’s probably a pin hole somewhere. Regardless are there any other faults anyone has found with similar symptoms?
