I took a video (linked) under my engine bay because I heard a strange noise after I had revved.
I saw one of the pulleys (i think that’s what they are called - i’m referring to the circular things that spin the belt) completely stop spinning after I revved and then go back to spinning when the revs dropped back down.
I think it’s only a real problem when I rev, and not when I slowly climb rpm’s. The belt was also changed around 8,000kms ago.
I need to find out why this is happening so that I can fix it. Also I don’t know the name of that pulley if someone can fill me in on it.
Let me know what you guys think I should do to fix this, and also what part is not working properly.
That's by design. It has a load, RPM, and temprature cut out.
Thats by design? I never heard that noise it made before when it kicked back in. It also shot out a dust cloud, is that supposed to happen? My a/c was on during this, tomorrow I’ll try it again without the a/c on.
Yes, it's by design. That is exactly what you want an AC compressor to do. Dust and noise is a different story.
The clutch and/or coil are wearing out and heading toward failure if you are dumping dust and making noise with operation. The are not expensive or hard to replace. If you get creative you can get in there and replace the clutch without removing the compressor (and hence, having to evacuate/recharge and replace the dryer).
