Noisy Alternator Belt on Startup
Hi All,
I just did a timing belt replacement and replaced all of the belts at the same time. The car starts up with a loud squeal and then runs pretty normally afterwards. I tried pulling off all of the belts and the noise finally went away when I pulled the alternator belt off and turned on the engine. I just ordered a replacement alternator belt. The last one was from Autozone so maybe there is something with it like size or fitment quality ? I had tensioned the old belt on a few different settings and the last time I tensioned it as tight as it would go. Anhow, I wanted to see if anyone has advice on where to go if I am still getting squeal with the new Gates belt. Should I be looking at the alternator pulley or alternator replacement? The CRV has about 200,000 miles with unknown maintenance history.
Thanks,
