VSS code but Speedo works
I have 94 civic 2d coupe w/ a b18c swap on a hondata s300 and I took it for a canyon run last night. Got about 2 or 3 passes in, pulled over into the staging area/ rest stop to just chill for a sec, I go to leave after a couple minutes then my check engine light comes on. I was scared as hell because we were in the middle of buttfvck nowhere and we only had one car. plugged in the computer and found out it was a vss code. However, found this weird becuase my speedometer was working fine all night so Im fairly confident the sensor itself is fine. Anybody have any ideas what could be up or how to fix this?
*note, I have a two step limiter for launch so because my ecu was reading 0 mph it wouldnt let me go past 4500 rpm regardless of how fast I was actually going*
I would be more than happy to give more details if anyone needs them

If your speedometer is still functioning, your launch control RPM is set to 4500 and your ECU is currently seeing 0 mph no matter what, and thus, keeping maximum engine rpm at or below 4500... you have a break in the wire from the VSS sensor and the ECU, just AFTER the split where it "Y"s off to the speedometer/odometer. This should be within 12-15" from the ECU plugs and ECU.
Thank you so much dude! I had to drive it a bit more today and it drove fine for the first half of the day then the problem came back so ill take a look at the wiring first thing tomorrow.
