P0325 code just won't go away (1997 Honda Civic EX)
Hey everyone,
My vehicle is a 1997 Honda Civic EX (D16Y8), all stock.
I have quite the conundrum in a P0325 (Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Bank 1 or Single Sensor) code that persists no matter what I do. Here's the full scenario.
I entirely rebuilt a D16Y8 engine, including new pistons, rings, bearings; the works. I installed said engine in a 1997 chassis, and it was great during the break-in period of 1500 miles. I tried to keep the RPM below 3000 during the break-in period, and there were no check-engine lights displayed.
After the break-in period, I started to rev it all the way to redline, but there were still no check-engine lights. About 2 weeks during this time, the first P0325 code displayed. I cleared it and kept driving the car for a month, and the code displayed again. Now the P0325 code displays minutes after clearing it. Here are the trouble-shooting steps I've taken.
1. Checked for a short from the ECU to body ground, or an open in the wire from the knock sensor to the ECU via these instructions: https://honda-tech.com/forums/attach...cture_7753.jpg. There was no short to body ground, and I had continuity from the sensor plug to the ECU.
2. Tried installing 3 different new knock sensors. One from Amazon, one from autozone (Duralast), and an OEM knock sensor (honda part number 30530-P2M-A01). The P0325 code persists.
3. Tried a different ECU from another 1997 Civic EX. The code persists.
So at this point, I'm not sure what to try next. I have a spare wiring harness, but I'm reluctant to swap it in since I'm not sure why the code isn't fixed after everything I've tried. I searched online for an answer for months, but I haven't found an answer.
Has anyone else experienced a scenario like this? Any feedback is appreciated. I really appreciate the knowledge offered on this website.

I don't think that YouTube video's instructions will work. That YouTube video tells you how to bypass the crankshaft position sensor. The P0325 code I'm getting means the knock sensor is having trouble communicating with the ECU. The knock sensor only has 1 wire (blue and red) going to the ECU.
Just to finish out this thread, I finally fixed the P0325 code. The "OEM" knock sensor I bought on eBay wasn't really OEM. So a word to the wise for anyone trying to save some money buying an OEM-equivalent knock sensor for a d16y8: don't do it. Buy a true OEM knock sensor (Matsushita) like this one:

It'll cost $250 or more, but the P0325 hasn't returned.
