Compatible steel wheels for 1990 Civic Si
Online 42700-SH3-964 (Discontinued) is listed as the correct part number for steel wheels for my 1990 Civic Si but under vehicle fitment it only lists 1990-91 Civic Si. So that makes it hard to find replacement wheels if those are literally the only vehicles that they were ever installed on. I know the size is 14 inches and they are 4x100 with a 45 MM offset. It looks to me like wheels with those specs are installed on lots of different Hondas. Is it just that the wheels look a bit different or is there some other compatibility issue I need to be concerned about? Why couldn't I use a set of 14 inch steel wheels off of a 2003 Civic?
My only guesses are:
My only guesses are:
- Something to do with the way the plastic hubcaps bolt on
- The size of the lug nuts
- The taper in the bolt holes
one reason Civics of this vintage are a go-to choice for modification is the fact that so much just bolts right up. wheels are in this category.
The offset for the steel wheels didn't vary that much. anything OE from '89 to '05 will fit. Tire options get much better in a 15" wheel size. If you're hard set on steel, I think you could get a base model Fit with 15" steelies that were 4x100.
here's a fun website to browse.

What I think I have figured out is that most Honda wheels that "fit" this car are 5.5 inches wide and for some reason the 90 and 91 Civic Si are the only cars that came with wheels that are 5.0 inches wide. I put 15 inch wheels on years ago and I do like them but I stupidly sold the steel wheels and now I would like the option to go back to the OEM 14 inch wheels.
