Hey all, so I have a 93 EJ2 and about a month ago I got into a hit and run, long story short my front and rear end got messed up. Biggest issue though is my rear subframe, As you see the right side get bent pretty badly.
My suspension is good and the rest of the car looks fine besides some rear quarter panel damage, but the bolt where the LCA meet the subframe tore through the thread and is now giving the rear right wheel some major positive camber, a few weeks ago I put on some rear upper control arms to temporarily adjust the camber if I ever need to move the car. I was told a good solution to fix the thread was to weld a plate there to keep the bolt from moving around.
Now... question is, who could fix this for me? I called two shops and they both said they wouldn't do it, and I'm sort of running out of time, as school starts up in about 2 weeks. I do have some money saved up so I'm not too worried if its a couple hundred bucks.
Is this savable? or am I screwed?
(Also I would get better pictures but my phone is absolutely destroyed and I can't use it at all)
Thank you for the reply.
Went to a few more places nearby, they wont do it since I'm paying out of pocket and insurance isn't going to cover it. Luckily my dad said he works with someone that might be able to do it so hopefully that can work out.
I have a ASR subframe brace to HOPEFULLY give it a little bit more strength, but I can't put it on until its straightened out, lol.
What suspension parts would you think be susceptible to damage due to the impact? My lower control arm doesn't look messed up, SOMEHOW my wheel hub and bearing is okay, and the strut and coil doesn't look bent although of course I can't fully see it.
Did you not file a police report or an insurance claim for the hit and run? The fact that shops are turning you down because they won't accept out of pocket payment is pathetic, they want to go through insurance because they know they can charge more - Though $200 or whatever you have isn't going to be enough on it's own anyway. $200 gets you almost nothing at shops these days.
Needing a vehicle in 2 weeks, and only having a couple hundred bucks to fix this is putting you in a bad spot.
I did in fact file a police report and I did an insurance claim and they did nothing. Police didn't do a single thing, I had to go to every single store where the accident happened for camera footage and they apparently had nothing. Insurance didn't give me any money since they couldn't catch the person who hit me. EVERYTHING is coming out of my own pocket.
I could rant all day about this, and the fact this one thing is stopping me from driving this car absolutely kills me.
Anyways, how hard would it be to just straight up replace the rear subframe, I couldn't find much info on how to do it, all I could gather was just taking out the fuel tank, exhaust, lower control arms, and I believe drilling out the spot welds holding it in.
